Vittata is the inventor of Villa Raíz. One day her machine spins out of control, a shockwave crosses the sky, and storms start arriving one after another. Luma needs a roof for her family today.
There are no villains. Mistakes teach, and there is always a way out. For a parrot, a broken tree is a lost nest: protecting the home means protecting the species.
Save what you built, or use what you know to help?

Vittata
«¡Lo sabía! ¡Solo era ajustar el equilibrio!»
“I knew it! It just needed better balance!”
Inventora rápida, segura y con humor. En este capítulo aprende a pedir ayuda.
A quick, confident inventor with a sense of humor. In this chapter she learns to ask for help.
Luma
«Mira esas marcas en el árbol. El río llegó hasta aquí.»
“Look at those marks on the tree. The river came up this high.”
Observadora y directa.
Observant and direct. She reads the signs of the water and never gives up.
El GuardiánThe Guardian
«Más vale paso firme que carrera ciega.»
“A steady step beats a blind run.”
Wise without lecturing. He speaks in Boricua proverbs and keeps a secret.
Among the ruins of her workshop, Vittata gathers wood, stone and metal. “What others see as scraps, I see as possibilities.”
Nadar y bucearSwim and dive
Tierra firmeSolid Ground
Dos terrenos: el río y la colina. Luma lee las marcas del agua. El estudiante decide dónde va el refugio.
Two sites: the river and the hill. Luma reads the water marks. The student decides where the shelter goes.
Volar y observarFly and observe
With a chorus of coquí frogs, Vittata repairs the transmitter and finds out they are not alone.
Escuchar y hablarListen and speak
The Chapter 1 island: a misty peak, a river, forest and coast. Every place teaches something about the real forest.
